Rights Respecting Schools - Gold Award
In the weeks before the summer holidays of 2026, Crathes prepared for a re-accreditation of our Rights Respecting Gold Award. This involved gathering lots of evidence to illustrate how we use rights to support our pupils and use the UNCRC to underpin everything we do at Crathes. We are hugely grateful for the time and support from pupils, parents and staff that helped us put together our application. A special thanks to those who contributed to representing us during our official assessment in the last week of term!
We are delighted to share that we were successful in retaining our Gold Award! Initial feedback highlighted a number of strengths as well as areas to work on next. It was noted that Crathes Primary:
Has a nurturing family atmosphere with strong relationships with parents/carers who also value and engage with the school’s Rights Respecting work.
Makes excellent use of charters across the school which are developed with pupils and are regularly revisited to support respect for children’s rights across the school, including actions for duty bearers.
Has a caring and nurturing ethos of the school, where the values of dignity and respect are lived and valued by the whole school community.
Has a strong focus on the health and wellbeing of students within the context of rights so that young people feel supported and nurtured.
We are committed to continuing this valuable work and we will be using feedback from the assessment process to further embed and enhance our ethos of respecting and promoting rights across the school and our wider community.
